Deceased was employed at the Long Framlington Colliery, and on Sunday evening, the 30th ult., was at the pit for the purpose of letting two workmen down the shaft, by a sack roller, which was occasionally used instead of the engine, and while assisting in placing the jack in its seat, having incautiously got near the edge of the shaft, slipped his foot and fell down the pit, and when found, his body was severely crushed and quite dead.
