The Gardeners' Arms
High Street, Amble.
 
Only the last two dwellings with the lower roof line in this terrace are on the 1860 Ordnance Survey. Remodelling of this
area during road widening and the building of the additional houses have left no trace of the Gardeners' Arms, which stood
near to this corner. An old stone carved "Togston Square" reset into the wall after the alterations probably faced out from
 one of the original buildings. (see second image) It appears from the 1860 map that 'Togston Square' formed at the junction
of Blue Bell Row and High Street and encompassed the Wellwood Arms area.
