During the period 5-7th October 1951 the 1st
Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers were deployed to take a
ridge of high ground known as point 317 and 217, at Maryang
San, 2 miles from the Imjin River. The battalion suffered
heavily during successive attacks and Chinese
counter-attacks; over two days the casualties were 16 killed
or mortally wounded, ninety-four wounded, and three missing. |
